Seven representatives of ASCCA were at the July 9 BAR Advisory Group (BAG) meeting and this proved to be critical as without their presence the interests of independent auto shops would not have been addressed. Thank you Jack Molodanof, Craig Johnson, Mary Kemnitz, Margie van Lierop, Craig Wells, Ted Walters and Jay Jefferson!
July 8, 2014 - SB 1446 (DeSaulnier) has been signed by Governor Edmund G. "Jerry" Brown, Jr. to provide some small employers with non-grandfathered health insurance policies in effect as of December 31, 2013, the option to renew their existing coverage for one year, rather than be required to move to new coverage by the end of 2014. SB 1446's extension will be of direct help to some small California employers who opted to early renew their health coverage in 2013. Many of these employers were facing above normal increases under the new ACA plans in 2014.
On TeamTalk this week, Stuart Terry sent a reminder that employees must receive notice from their employer of the scheduled change of pay rate because on July 1, the minimum wage in California increased from $8 per hour to $9 per hour.
