Jack Heyler Hall of Fame Induction
Brookside Inn
Pasadena, CA
November 4, 2001
Approximately 80 people gathered at the Brookside Inn, near the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, to honor "Old Wrench" Jack Heyler as the first inductee into the newly-formed ASC Hall of Fame.
After lunch, emcee John Goodman started things off by presenting Jack Heyler with a small bicycle horn, which he was to honk once if he approved of something said, or twice if he didn't. The horn was put to good use throughout the rest of the day.
ASC State President Dan Walker then read the Proclamation inducting Jack into the ASC Hall of Fame, and afterwards presented Jack with a framed copy of the Proclamation.
Goodman then presented Jack with a plaque and framed Proclamation from AAIA honoring Jack for his achievements.
A number of other people spoke, offering warm stories and tributes to Jack. Among those speaking were Alan Cherko, Ken Hamilton, Moonyean Kistler, Gene Walinksi, Jim Gergen, Joanne Heyler, Mike Mahneke, Peter Meijer, Johnny Richardson, Glenda Shekall, and Jack's daughter, Joanne.
Jack was also honored by the crowd playing kazoos and singing, "For He's A Jolly Good Fellow" led by the Past President's Kazoo Band. John Goodman then led the crowd in "Three Cheers for Jack Heyler!"
A good time was had by all.
