Legislative Day 2003

State Capitol
Sacramento, CA
March 23, 2003

ASC and eight other aftermarket parts and repair associations held its 8th annual Legislative Day at the Capitol in Sacramento yesterday. Approximately 195 aftermarket business owners and others attended the event packed day. Issues discussed ranged from the business climate in California to workers compensation reform to amending Business and Professions Code 17200 to end "unfair competition" frivolous lawsuits. Two legislators and several other panel speakers brought the attendees up to date on a variety of state and national issues affecting business and the automotive aftermarket industry. Attendees then descended on the State Capitol to meet with their state assemblymembers and Senators to educate them about ASC, the industry, and issues mentioned above.

Legislative Day is the cornerstone of ASC's Government Affairs Program which is instrumental in protecting ASC members business and industry interests at both the state and federal level. Look for in-district meetings with state and federal legislators in member shops that you can participate in during the upcoming year. As members and industry representatives, you are an important and necessary part of ASC's legislative and regulatory successes. So, let your voice be heard in this process through your state trade Association --- ASC.

Thank you to all the ASC members and Chapter Representatives who took time out of the busy schedules to participate in legislative day at the Capitol. Your dedication and commitment to ASC will go along way to increasing our clout among state and federal lawmakers and making ASC the premier automotive repair industry association in California.
