When the legislature returns, we expect a flurry of activity including the controversial "gut and amend" legislation, (when amendments to a bill remove the current contents in the entirety and replace them with different provisions). Some bills were amended and have been added to the list, while other bills have died and have been removed from the list. The catalytic converter theft bills have been narrowed down to five. ASCCA Legislative Advocate Jack Molodanof and ASCCA Government Affairs Committee Chair David Kusa both attended the workshops. The first workshop was on the updated Automotive Repair Dealer (ARD) application requirements and the second workshop was on the proposed Vehicle Safety Inspection program. Below is a summary of Jack Molodanof’ s takeaways from the workshops. Updated ARD Application Regulations The BAR is updating the automotive repair dealer application to comply with AB 471. Greetings ASCCA members and partners, We made it through 2020 and well into January 2021! We have all learned to be more resourceful and innovative managing our businesses. Challenging times do tend to make us stronger. However, many of us have lost family, friends and co-workers to the Covid-19 virus and are trying to deal with devastating losses. Together we will get through this pandemic. However, we will be changed because of the experience. Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic ASCCA has helped to provide crucial resources, information, and contacts to move our businesses forward and survive this difficult time. It has also been helpful to network with other shop owners. I have found the support, feedback and insight to be extremely valuable in remaining creative and positive.
