ASCCA Legislative Update - February 2023

The State legislature introduced over 2,600 new bills this year. Many of these bills are "spot bills" meaning that they are place holders to be amended later with more substantive language.   We are still in the process of reviewing all the bills.  Below are bills that we have highlighted so far.  As we continue to review the introduced bills and amendments, we will add to the list. ASCCA Legislative Update - January 2023

Legislative Bills – Bill Deadline – February 17, 2023  It's still very early in the legislative bill introduction process but so far here are the bills:  SB 55 (Catalytic Converters) Prohibits a new or used car dealer from selling a new motor vehicle equipped with a catalytic converter unless the catalytic converter has been engraved or etched with the vehicle identification number of the vehicle to which it is attached.  Potential Bills:  Legislation to expand BAR Vehicle Safety Systems Inspection Program to all vehicles, not just total loss revived salvage vehicles. Employment Bills – Expecting several bills to be introduced dealing with employment, including paying employees' overtime for more than 32 hours a week – This was last year’s AB 2932, which failed.  Read more
